Topanga State Park Keeping it under two hours north of our shop located in the cliffs and canyons of the Santa Monica Mountains lies Topanga State Park. This exquisite landscape features over 35 miles of trails through open grassland, large live oaks, and spectacular views of the wondrous Pacific Ocean. Being located entirely within the Los Angeles city limits, Topanga State Park is considered the world's largest wildland within the boundaries of a major city. Here you can find great hikes and mountain biking trails for miles.
Cachuma Lake Under three hours away from our location is a hidden California gem. Set amidst acres of wilderness flanked by the picturesque Santa Ynez and San Rafael Mountains lies Cachuma Lake. This is an excellent drive and makes for a great weekend getaway or a fun day at the lake. Here you will find practically everything you need for a relaxing getaway in the great outdoors. The County entered into a long-term lease with the Federal Bureau of Reclamation in 1953 to manage the 9,000-acre Cachuma Lake Recreation Area. When driving to Cachuma Lake, you will be taking the scenic Highway 154 in the Santa Ynez Valley.
Check Engine Light? When going on a long drive, the check engine light is something we do not want to see. But what does it mean? A check engine light can mean many things about the state of your vehicle, from a simple computer malfunction to something more serious. At Walt's Auto Service, we do much more than fixing a check engine light. We can help you increase your vehicle's longevity and ensure you get the best mileage out of it possible.
Prescott National Forest A definite weekend plan would be a trip to the gigantic Prescott National Forest. This one takes over six hours from Torrance- but well worth it. This land is so large that it's divided up into eight sections, all breathtaking. Prescott National Forest's eight wilderness areas are ideal places to view wildlife, take in the scenery, hike, ride horses, backpack, and connect well with Nature.
Woodcut Wilderness: This area offers relatively easy access and spectacular views of the San Francisco Peaks and panoramic vistas of central Arizona. A crazy combination. Established in 1984, the 5,923-acre wilderness ranges in elevation from 5,500 to 7,800 feet. Here you will find a plethora of Ponderosa Pine trees in the higher regions & dry desert in the lowlands.
Apache Creek Wilderness: Established in 1984, this 5,628-acre wilderness features three natural springs and several important riparian areas, including Apache Creek. These natural springs are a perfect way to cool off in the Calirinfina climate & bring a great day of wildlife with them. People have spotted numerous bird species and mountain lions patrolling the rolling hills.
There are two primary trails within this wilderness:
Apache Creek Loop #9903
Apache Creek Trail #9905
Joshua Tree This world-famous park lies at an ecological crossroads-the high Mojave Desert meeting with the low Colorado Desert. Joshua Tree's beauty shines around the clock, with many vibrant sunsets melting into nights where the dark sky is heavily sprinkled with uncountable stars and constellations.
This park offers attractions for all ages. Joshua Tree is known for its enormous climbable rocks, which are very intriguing to kids & Joshua Tree provides a natural playground full of them! More experienced climbers can explore more than 400 climbing formations and 8,000 established climbing routes.
